What to Do Before You Arrive

Knocked-out tooth
Handle the tooth by the crown only — never the root. Rinse it gently with water if dirty, but do not scrub. Try to reinsert it into the socket if possible, or store it in a glass of milk or your own saliva. Call us immediately and get to the clinic as fast as you can — time is critical.

Dental abscess or swelling
Do not apply heat to the affected area. A cold compress on the outside of the cheek can help manage discomfort temporarily. Call us right away — dental infections can spread quickly and require prompt treatment.

Broken or cracked tooth
Rinse your mouth with warm water. If there’s bleeding, apply gentle pressure with clean gauze. Save any pieces of the tooth if possible and bring them with you. Avoid chewing on that side.

Lost crown or filling
Avoid chewing on the exposed tooth. Dental cement (available at most pharmacies) can serve as a temporary fix until we see you. Call us to arrange prompt care.
